Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District recently received an Excellence Award from the Texas Association of School Boards’ (TASB) Risk Management Fund, along with $1,000 to be used toward risk management efforts.

GCISD was one of 10 Texas public school districts to receive the award during the TASB Risk Management Fund’s Members’ Conference May 2 in Austin.

GCISD was recognized for Display of Identification, Building Access, and Security. The ability to identify all people on campuses is of utmost importance to the district. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD implemented a two-prong plan that requires all secondary students to wear their school-issued identification while on campus and distributed door access badges to high school students. The district also provided signage instructing students to keep all campus exterior doors secure.
