The Colleyville Heritage baseball team won its first UIL 5A State Championship with a 14-2 win over Georgetown in the title game at Dell Diamond in Round Rock on Saturday.
The Panthers (39-3) broke a UIL 5A title game record with 18 hits. Joey Koetting was named MVP of the game after going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored.
The state title comes in the same week that three Panthers were selected in the MLB Draft. Bobby Witt Jr. was selected No. 2 overall by the Kansas City Royals. Logan Britt and Mason Greer were selected in the 35th and 37th round by the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks, respectively.
