The Colleyville Middle School honors band recently competed at the state level of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Honor Band competition, and placed second among all middle school bands in Texas.
This comes after the group placed first at the region and area levels in order to be one of 16 bands to qualify for the state competition. CMS advanced to the state level for the first time in 25 years.
“This is a huge accomplishment for our band, school and community,” said CMS Director of Bands Lauren Jones. “We are so incredibly proud of these students and cannot wait to see what the future holds.”
This accomplishment caps an incredible year for the CMS Honors Band which also included a trip to Chicago in December to perform at the Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference. CMS was one of just three middle school bands in the nation selected to perform for thousands of musicians and educators from around the world.
