Dave Denning, Principal of Grapevine High School, has been named Director of Human Resources. The GCISD Board of Trustees voted to approve the appointment during the regular meeting on Monday, February 24.

“This community is my home,” Denning said. “It is where I have spent the entirety of my career. Where my family lives. Where my girls started school at the GCISD Early Childhood Development Center and where they will walk across the stage and receive their diplomas from GHS. I feel truly blessed to live and work in such a tremendous community, and I am honored and humbled to have this new opportunity to serve more students, staff and families.”

In 1998 Denning joined the teaching and coaching staff at Cross Timbers Middle School where he remained until 2006. Denning became an assistant principal at Colleyville Middle School in 2006 and served the Colts for five years before moving to Grapevine Middle School as an assistant principal. In 2012, Denning was named the principal of Colleyville Middle School, where he remained until becoming the principal at Grapevine High School in 2015.

“We are so excited for Dave to begin his new role as the Director of Human Resources,” said Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD Superintendent. “Having spent his entire career in GCISD, Dave has become an incredible champion of the District and we know in his new role he will work to support our students by recruiting the best educators from around the State.”

During his time in GCISD, Denning has received the Dr. Jim Thompson Exemplary Achievement in Education Award, was nominated for the Colleyville Chamber GCISD Employee of the Year in 2014 and was named a Life Achievement Award winner for the National PTA.

Denning earned a bachelor of science from Kansas State University and a master of education from Tarleton State University. Denning will assume his new role beginning July 1, 2020 upon the retirement of Becky Lamb.
