GCISD Announces new Executive Director of Communications

Kristin Snively, current GCISD Director of Communications, has been named the Executive Director of Communications. Trustees approved the recommendation during the regular board meeting on Monday, December 18.

“We are extremely proud of Mrs. Snively for earning this opportunity,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “During the past five years with GCISD, she has been integral to the success of the Communications Department and, in particular, helping all of our campus administrators improve their communication. Whether through social media, crisis communication to parents or human interest stories, Mrs. Snively has become a leader in championing our district and we look forward to seeing how she advances our communication efforts and engagement with the community.”

The search for a new Executive Director began when Rick Hadley announced his retirement in October. As the Director of Communications, Snively has served as the direct liaison to the Educational Division of the district and has coordinated their communications on keys issues, led the annual convocation event for staff, created the “Game Day Experience” for parents and spectators attending varsity football games, and coordinated multi-media communications related to Soaring Valor.

Prior to working in GCISD, Snively worked for Lewisville ISD as the Communications Coordinator. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and the University of North Texas where she earned a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies. Additionally, Snively has earned several honors from the Texas School Public Relations Association (Gold Star for Communication Plan and Best in Category for Social Media) and, in 2017, she was named one of 35 Under 35 by the National School Public Relations Association, which recognizes young professional members who are making a difference for their school districts or education-related employers.

"It is an honor to have the opportunity to continue to serve the families, staff and community of GCISD in a new role,” Snively said. “There are tremendous things happening across the district each and every day and I look forward to sharing the stories of our achievements and innovative programs with the broader community."
