Mustang Drive will be reduced to two lanes near Mustang-Panther Stadium over the next few weeks while storm drain system work is performed. This project will also result in the closing of the parking lot driveway nearest the south end of the stadium. The south stadium entry gate will remain available for pedestrian use, but no vehicle traffic will be allowed in that area. It is recommended that fans of visiting teams park at Grapevine High School, 3223 Mustang Drive, and take the shuttle service to the stadium.
This week the two southernmost (eastbound) lanes of Mustang Drive will be closed from approximately Timberline Drive to near the Community Outreach Center. The two northernmost (westbound) lanes will become two-way lanes. This first phase of storm drainage is expected to take approximately two weeks, depending on weather and other factors. Phase two of this project will close the northernmost (westbound) lanes, switching traffic to the southernmost (eastbound) lanes in the same stretch of Mustang Drive. In addition to the road and parking lot restrictions, work on the first of two new home side concession stands will impact Mustang-Panther Stadium access beginning Thursday, September 7. The home side upper concourse ramp on the southern end of the stadium will be blocked off for demolition. Home side fans are encouraged to use the main gate or the north entry gate to access seating. Bands will still access the stadium via the southwest parking lot driveway. Visiting fans will still be able to use the south gate to enter the stadium.
These closures and detours are necessary as GCISD makes improvements to Mustang-Panther Stadium over the next year, funded by proceeds from the Grapevine Mills TIF. We appreciate your patience and understanding during the process.
