Lindsey Hopkins, current assistant principal at Colleyville Heritage High School, has been named the principal of Bridges Accelerated Learning Center and Vista Alternative Education Center. Trustees announced the appointment during a special meeting on Monday, July 10.
“I am honored to be named principal of Bridges Accelerated Learning Center and Vista Alternative Education Center,” Hopkins said. “I look forward to serving with the staff to meet the needs of our students and families in new and innovative ways. I am excited to continue developing partnerships with our community that will assist students in meeting their post-secondary goals.”
The search for a new principal of Bridges and Vista began in June when Dr. Lynda Burr announced her retirement after 39 years of service to public education.
Hopkins has been an assistant principal at CHHS since 2016 where she was the administrator over special education and performing arts. From 2009-2016, Hopkins served a counselor for three years prior to being named lead counselor in 2013. While in the counseling department, Hopkins created Workshop Wednesdays program for student academic, social and emotional learning as well as implementing a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program.
Prior to joining the CHHS staff, Hopkins spent one year at Atascocita Middle School in Atascocita, Texas as a counselor. She was a special education teacher at Piedmont High School from 2007-2008 after beginning her career at Whispering Pines Elementary School in 2004 in special education.
“We are so excited to have a familiar face serve as the next principal of Bridges Accelerated Learning Center,” said Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD Superintendent. “Bridges provides opportunities and support for each student to reach educational, personal, and occupational goals and I am confident Lindsey will continue to help our students as they strive for success.”
Hopkins received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in education and counseling from Sam Houston State University. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in education at the University of North Texas.
