GCISD students excel in math and science state competition

Students from all four GCISD middle schools took part in the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association State Meet. As a result, seven students placed in the top 20 of their subject areas, and the the Cross Timbers Middle School Math & Science team placed 10th overall out of the 61 schools in the 5A division. Cross Timbers MS also had a student, Aurora Tong, place in the top 20 of all four subject areas: Number Sense, Science, Math, and Calculator.

  • Akshaya Mohan - 17th place - Science (Cross Timbers MS)
  • Kavya Shah - 41st place - Science (Cross Timbers MS)
  • Surya Emandi - 15th place - Science (Grapevine MS)
  • Aneesha Mazumder - 23rd place - Math (Grapevine MS)

--7th Grade--

  • Aurora Tong - 1st place - Number Sense, 3rd place - Calculator, 4th place - Math, and 17th place Science (Cross Timbers MS)
  • Brian Jiang - 7th place - Number Sense, 14th place - Calculator, and 6th place - Math (Cross Timbers MS)

--8th Grade--

  • Amrit Rathie - 11th place - Science (Cross Timbers MS)
  • Faith Sowell - 35th place - Science (Cross Timbers MS)
  • Dusty Hogenson - 49th place - Math (Colleyville MS)
  • Amaan Babul - 21st place - Number Sense, 35th place - Math (Heritage MS)
