On Monday, June 15, the GCISD Board of Trustees approved Lani Norman as the new Executive Director of Learning. Norman currently serves as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Life School.

“We are so excited for Lani to return to Grapevine-Colleyville ISD in her new role,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “Having been in GCISD previously, Lani has an understanding of the academic standards we hold ourselves to, and I am confident she will continue moving us forward while providing support and guidance for our instructional staff.”

Norman is a familiar face in GCISD as she spent 10 years in the District. Prior to joining the Life School administration, Norman served as an assistant principal at Colleyville Middle School in 2016 and a learning liaison at Colleyville Heritage High School (2014-2016) and Heritage Middle School (2012-2014). She began her tenure in GCISD as a teacher at Colleyville Heritage in 2007. During her time in the District, she also was a four-year participant and leader in the Vanguard Academy of Learning, Observation and Reflection, which is an enriched year-long professional development opportunity for teachers. Prior to joining GCISD, Norman began her career at Waller High School.

“The opportunity to return home to serve the community I live in and lead our academic endeavors is an honor,” Norman said. “The educators in GCISD are the BEST and I am excited to work alongside our leaders to continue this legacy.”

Norman earned her bachelor's degree in communication from Texas A&M University and her master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is currently a doctoral candidate in educational leadership at the University of North Texas with an expected defense date in September 2020.
