GCISD Conducts Safety and Security Audit
Posted on 10/26/2020

During an executive session of the October 26, 2020, GCISD Board of Trustees meeting, Trustees reviewed the findings of the state-required security and safety audit.

In accordance with Texas Education Code §37.108(b), all Texas school districts are required to conduct an audit every three years of its facilities and processes and to provide the results of that audit to the district’s School Safety and Security Committee, which is composed of GCISD parents, staff, local emergency management personnel, fire and police and a member of the Texas School Safety Center.

This GCISD audit was conducted by the GCISD Office of Emergency Management & School Security in coordination with representatives of the Colleyville and Grapevine police departments.

“The responsibility of safety and security in GCISD is a collaborative effort between students, staff, the community and local first responders,” said GCISD Director of Emergency Management and School Security Allen Smith. “We are so fortunate to live in a supportive community that has prioritized school safety as part of the 2011 and 2016 bond programs. These safety measures will help continue to provide for a safe learning environment for all.”

The District has created a website in which parents, staff and community members can learn more about proactive measures taken by the district, partnerships with local law enforcement, how the 2011 and 2016 bond programs contributed to building security and safety measures and information regarding the emergency operations plan.
