
Colleyville Heritage High School senior Abby Devereaux won her second consecutive UIL 1-Meter Diving 5A State Championship, highlighting a great competition for GCISD student-athletes at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio.
After being the only diver to score over 200 in the prelims, Devereaux posted a score of 468.20 in the finals, nearly 40 points higher than the second-place finisher.
In addition to the Devereaux’s diving championship, GCISD had two other student-athletes and two relay teams qualify for Championship Finals.
Colleyville Heritage senior Nick Rennhack qualified for finals in the 100-yard backstroke and finished seventh. Grapevine High School sophomore Blake Gibson qualified for finals in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle and finished eighth in both.
Also, the GHS boys 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relay teams finished seventh and eighth, respectively, helping GHS to a 10th place finish in the boys team standings.
