Cannon Elementary second-grader Paisley Elliott has been nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize, or what is commonly referred to as the junior version of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Paisley was nominated for the prestigious honor by an outreach group she works with, Switzerland-based Ariel Foundation International. Although Paisley is too young to meet the age requirements (12 to 18) for the prize, her mother says the Ariel Foundation is looking into whether an exception can be made.
The Grapevine community celebrated Paisley’s honor with a drive-by parade last week, and the Grapevine Police Department also named her a Junior Officer for the day.
Paisley has been advocating for the rights of refugees across the globe since she was 4-year-old. Since then, her nonprofit Paisley's Pals has been created and her heart for service has grown. In the last few years, she has worked on projects and served families not only in Texas, but also in Greece, Syria, Mexico and Nicaragua.
