
Bryan Gerlich, GCISD Executive Director of Athletics, has been named the Athletic Director of Frenship ISD. Gerlich was named the Executive Director of Athletics in May 2015. Before joining the Athletics department, Gerlich served as an associate principal at Colleyville Heritage High School.
Under his leadership, GCISD athletics experienced tremendous levels of success including:
- 2021: State Champions Cross Country, State Champion Track and Field, State Champion Diver
- 2020: State Champions Cross Country, State Champion Diver, State Champion Wrestler, State Champion Cross Country
- 2019: State Champions Girls Golf, State Champions Baseball, Silver Medalist Golf, Silver Medalists Cross Country, Bronze Medalists Cheerleading
- 2018: State Champions Girls Golf, State Champion Gymnast
- 2017: State Champions Girls Golf, Silver Medalists Baseball, Silver Medalists Swim and Dive
- 2016: State Champions in Baseball, Bronze Medalists Tennis, Bronze Medalists Cross Country, Silver Medalists Girls Soccer
- 2015: State Champions Tennis, State Champions Cross Country, Bronze Medalists Cross Country
Gerlich has 23 years of experience in education, including as athletic director and varsity head football coach in Amarillo’s Highland Park ISD, Hereford ISD and Tahoka ISD. He also served as an assistant principal at Coronado High School and as a varsity defensive linebacker coach, special teams coach and varsity track assistant at San Antonio’s James Madison High School.
Gerlich received his bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Tech University, where he was a linebacker for the Red Raider football team from 1988-1991 under the direction of head coach Spike Dykes. He later received a master’s degree in educational administration from Texas A&M University at Kingsville.
District leaders will now begin the search for the next Executive Director of Athletics to lead these high-performing coaches and student athletes.
