GCISD’s Parent Technology Academy is returning this month with a session focused on monitoring your student’s screen time on Apple devices. The free session will be held on Tuesday, December 14, at 6 p.m. on Webex. A representative from Apple will lead this virtual session in which parents will learn about Apple’s Screen Time functions.
No registration is required, and parents can join by simply visiting www.GCISD.net/ParentTech. Shortly before the session begins, this link will direct parents directly to the Webex session. The live session will be conducted in English, with a summary of the session available in both English and Spanish after December 14.
Screen Time lets you know how much time you and your kids spend on apps, websites, and more. This allows parents to make more informed decisions about how you use your devices, and set limits if you'd like to. Learn how to use parental controls to manage a child's device during this free to all session.
The Parent Technology Academy is a place where parents can come to learn about current trends in social media, online websites, and tools their students use each day at school. This Academy is a place to pull back the curtain on the many apps and websites that students use on a day-to-day basis in and out of school. Past sessions have included Top Apps Parents Need to Know, Social Media and College, Understanding Google Docs, Internet Safety, Minecraft for Parents, Fortnite For Parents, Device-Free Dinners and more.
