High School Choirs Perform for State Leadership
Posted on 12/01/2021

Both the Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School choirs recently had the opportunity to travel to Austin and perform for some of Texas’ top state leaders. The choirs joined together on Friday, November 19, and performed at the State Board of Education (SBOE) meeting, then also performed in the Rotunda of the State Capitol before receiving a tour of the Capitol.

It was the pleasure of the Texas State Board of Education to be entertained by the combined choirs of Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School on the Friday of the most recent Board meeting. It was the first in-person performance in two years; a treat well worth waiting for.

In their black, velvet dresses and tuxedos, their beautiful visual presentation was only surpassed by their phenomenal choral performance.

As a former history teacher, I was thrilled to learn that following their performance for the SBOE, they repeated their musical pieces in the rotunda of the State Capitol.  That event was capped off by a tour of our beautiful State Capitol.

A sincere thanks to Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan, Fine Arts Director Dr. Paul Sikes, the choir directors, Kimberly McConnell and Pauline Sexton, from the two high schools and the Grapevine-Colleyville community for providing such an enriching opportunity for their students.

Sincerely,
Pat Hardy
