The GCISD Fine Arts department and groups across the District are coming together to produce the inaugural David Zahrndt GCISD Fine Arts Festival. From Thursday, February 3, through Monday, February 7, every fine arts organization in GCISD will perform as students showcase their work for the community, as well as pay tribute to David Zahrndt, former GCISD Director of Fine Arts.
Below is a full schedule of events (additional flyer). Events are free to attend unless otherwise noted. All funds raised will go towards the Zahrndt Family Memorial, so we can continue to support Mr. Zahrndt just as he has supported this community over the past decade. Additionally, anyone can donate to the Zahrndt Family Memorial by clicking the preceding link.
About David Zahrndt
On March 6, 2021, GCISD unexpectedly lost its Fine Arts Director, David Zahrndt. It has been an incredibly devastating loss for all who knew him. His mentorship, influence, and support have provided all the Fine Arts programs in this district to thrive at the highest level. He first came to GCISD in 2010 as the Director of Bands at Colleyville Heritage High School through 2013, returning in 2017 as the Director of Fine Arts. He is survived by his wife, Cristi, and his two children, Julie and Drew.
