The Grapevine High School girls soccer team capped off an incredibly successful season with runner-up honors at the UIL 5A State Tournament last weekend. The Mustangs knocked off Boerne Champion in the state semifinals, 6-3, but fell to Frisco Wakeland in overtime in the state championship game.

The Mustangs, who advanced to the state tournament for the second consecutive season, finished their season with a 22-3-1 record. On their run to the state tournament, the Mustangs outscored their first five playoff opponents by a combined score of 25-4.

The GHS girls weren’t the only GCISD soccer team to enjoy success this year. All four GCISD teams made the UIL playoffs with three advancing to Regional Finals. The GHS boys came up just one game short of the State Tournament, as did the CHHS girls who lost to GHS in the Regional Finals.
