GCISD Increases Pay for Numerous Positions

On Monday, October 25, the GCISD Board of Trustees voted to approve a revised compensation plan that created pay raises for numerous positions throughout the District. The employees mostly affected by these changes are GCISD’s auxiliary staff and instructional support staff. The District has numerous positions available in these areas, and the approved changes make now as good a time as ever to join GCISD, a Dallas Morning News Top 100 Workplace.

Highlighting the changes are increases in the starting pay for all positions in GCISD’s Auxiliary Grade 1 and 2, Instructional Support Grade 202, 203, and 204, and Transportation bus drivers categories. These categories include positions such as custodians, nutrition specialists, extended day program staff, instructional assistants and much more. The Board also approved an increase in compensation for GCISD’s substitute teachers. A complete look at the increases in pay for these categories can be found below.

Additionally, the Board approved quarterly retention payments of $500 for auxiliary and paraprofessional positions in the following departments: Facility Services, Extended Day Programs, Transportation, Child Nutrition, Warehouse, Instructional Paraprofessionals, and ECDC. In addition to the increases in pay for the above-mentioned categories, all of GCISD’s current auxiliary, instructional support and clerical employees received a 5% pay increase. Also, all District employees as of November 15, 2021 will receive a one-time retention payment of $500 for all full-time employees and $250 for part-time employees.

Additional Details

Starting Pay Increases
- Auxiliary Grade 1 from $12.00 per hour to $13.50 per hour
- Auxiliary Grade 2 from $12.75 per hour to $14.00 per hour
- Instructional Support Grade 202 from $12.00 per hour to $13.50 per hour
- Instructional Support Grade 203 from $13.00 per hour to $14.25 per hour
- Instructional Support Grade 204 from $13.90 per hour to $14.75 per hour
- Transportation bus driver from $19.00 per hour to $21.00 per hour

Substitute Compensation Increases
- Certified substitute teacher pay from $90.00 to $110.00 daily
- Substitutes who have 60+ college hours from $85.00 to $100.00 daily
- Paraprofessional substitute pay from $70.00 to $90.00 daily

Quarterly Retention Payments
- If the employees listed above are employed in GCISD on January 1, 2022, through March 31, 2022, they will receive a $500 retention payment in April 2022.
- If the employees listed above are employed on January 1, 2022, through March 31, 2022, and are still employed in GCISD through June 30, 2022, they will receive a $500 retention payment in July 2022.
- If newly hired employees listed above are employed prior to or on April 1, 2022, through June 30, 2022, they will receive a $500 retention payment in July 2022.
